Great Book, I Wish I Had It Years Ago!

I am not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about. The book does not come with a CD which is true. It does come with a code so you can download all the audio files from the internet. I downloaded them all in less than 5 minutes and it was no problem at all. You get high quality mp3 files. That aside, this book is great. I have been playing for 40 years and the only soloing tool in my tool box was the major/minor pentatonic scale. You can only go so far with that. This book teaches you when and how to add other elements to your soloing so that your performance really pops! Now I have many different soloing "tools" at my disposal, and that gives a tremendous amount of depth to my performance. Putting in arpeggios, modes, and scales really gives you a whole new sound. My band mates have been impressed with the change in my playing. This book is not for the beginner but aimed more at both the advanced and intermediate player. The examples and backing tracks are very high quality. This is not just a book of useful licks to memorize, although there are many tasty licks given. It teaches you when and how to apply different devices (scales, modes, arpeggios) to soloing situations. I wish I had this instruction years ago.

Outstanding book!!!!

Excellent resource for learning to play Blues Fusion lines!!! Audio samples are easily accessed from my Kindle Fire after creating a Hal Leonard account. I've only played a couple of examples but I'm very happy with what see. The author really knows his theory & can play a mean guitar. Be prepared to advance your skills because this book has some outstanding information!!!

It's a good book to read thru to check the elements that are applied to the Blues..You may find something that is so simple that's not in your Blues improvisations because it is so simple you overlook it when trying to apply more complex jazz scales to the Blues..
