Ein liebevoll geschriebenes Kinderbuch, es wechseln sich Geschichte und Zeichnungen ab. Es eignet sich ideal zum Vorlesen und Vorzeigen, die Geschichte ist kreativ und gut verständlich für kleine Kinderohren geschrieben. Die Thematik des Buches (Integration und Toleranz) ist sehr wichtig, und wird in diesem Buch kindgerecht und leicht verständlich erzählt. Dieses Buch hilft Kindern zu verstehen, dass es viele verschiedene Menschen und somit auch viele verschiedene Sprachen gibt und das man Verständnis für den Anderen aufbringen soll. Die Kinder lernen, dass es nicht überall auf der Welt gleich ist, aber andere Gebräuche, Sprachen und Hintergründe nichts an der Tatsache ändern, dass wir alle nur Menschen sind. Fazit: Super Sache, ein wunderschönes Kinderbuch zum Vorlesen, verschenken und die Welt ein bisschen besser machen!

Ich war von diesem Kinderbuch begeistert und habe es umgehend an eine Freundin mit Kleinkindern verschenkt, die nun immer daraus vorgelesen bekommen wollen. Die Autorin erzählt wunderbar und für Kinder verständlich wie wichtig Toleranz und Integration heutzutage sind. Der kleine Finley zeigt, dass Kinder voneinander lernen können, ganz gleich aus welchem Land sie kommen oder welche Sprache sie sprechen. Ich kann dieses Buch jeder Familie mit Kleinkindern empfehlen - unterhaltsam von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite.

Top Ten is one of Alan Moore's best works. Arguably it's his best series and yes, I have read Watchmen and Swamp Thing to make the comparison. The first issue shows off everything to love about this series, and I assure you that it only gets better from here.

The main selling point of this issue is the sheer level of detail. Gene Ha's artwork is good as it is, and it's loaded with background events and jokes to complement the main plot. Not to mention how well realized the characters are in such a short time.

Someone gave me this when I was just starting out in my career, years ago. I donated this copy to the Women's collection in my employer's library, and reread my old, dog-eared copy. The advice and insights are just as fresh and relevant as they were years ago. This should be given to every young woman just entering corporate America - it would be good to add to ethics studies in both business and science (my field). I still make use of the advice and strategies.It would be nice to see an new edition come out ...

this is a must read for all of those who do not have mentors and want to climb the corporate ladder or just be able to function in the work place without making political faux pas. better yet know how to play the game and get what you want. it is not just for women but for men who are not aware that there are rules of conduct for climbing the corporate ladder.

35 years later and I still find this book helpful

When I was in college, first my aunt and then one of my professors (male) highly recommended this book.

Although some of the advice is outdated due to the changing nature of business, I still find this book very helpful and tell every young woman (and some young men) of my acquaintence to find a copy and read it.

I personally give this book credit for the fact that even as an English major I make more money than either of my parents.

This is not a "business is unfair to women and we need to stop them from being mean" book. This is a "if you want to do something more than being a secretary (or an admin now) for the rest of your life, figure it out" book.

If for no other reason, read it to see what most bosses think in any organization bigger than 50 people.

okay book

I think that the arrangement of the chapters is really bad. This plus the support from Pearson for educators makes it difficult to teach. They've atempted to take the First Responder book and change it to Emergency Medical Responder and the support is somewhat out of date. Maybe they are stillworking on it, but I do have to fault their arrangement of chapters. This is the book we are required to use, therefore I just mold the teaching to make it more "teachable"....

Addition.... This book is still just as lacking and to boot, the price is now higher.

Very easy to understand text book-get the workbook too!

This textbook is great. I'm taking this for a college class and want to become certified. Its very easy to understand, has study helps, but I also purchased and use the workbook which helps me prepare for tests. The pictures in the book help illustrate how things are done. Highly recommend.

It is an updated version and lots of good information. I used it to teach a First Responder class at the fire department. It was easy for the students to read and the help/quizes at the end of the chapter are beneficial.

An Example of Boas' Eclectic Interests

Boas was a German Jewish immigrant who learned other languages and became versed in arts and music before he set out to study the color of Artic ice under different conditions for a degree in physics. Fortunately, he found the Inuit (Eskimo) more interesting and became an ethnographer and anthropologist. After settling in the United States and establishing a department of anthropology, he found American Indians in danger of extinction (a common misbelief at the time).
He sent students to various culture areas while he undertook studies of Indians on the Northwest Coast. He gave us details of their ethnography, and he was fascinted with their art. The result was this book surveying Indian art in general while detailing Northwest Coast art in particular.
Many coffee table books now illustrate Native American art in much greater detail, but the Boas' book is a classic that reads well.
